Memories of Carr Lee Fletcher

There was a reason Carr Lee was the senior student counsel president and class president of every other class from the 7th grade on. He was a great, talented, and genuine person. He was offensive lineman, place kicker, track and he played French horn in the band. I never heard him say a bad thing about anyone and talked to you on level plane. Where school kids have their little groups and exclusionary practices Carr Lee was above that and just treated everybody as equals. His death was a great loss to all people who knew him as well as the many people he would have touched.

Carr Lee was a great guy, lots of fun and a real good friend.  I got to be good friends with Carr Lee in our Senior Year, and he was just one of the best people I knew from High School.  His death was a loss to everyone because if he had lived, Carr Lee was one of those people who would have made the world a better place.

Carr Lee was my first real boyfriend.  My first official date was with him, way back in 9th grade.  We double dated with his older brother and his girlfriend, attending a football game at Lockhart Stadium where the Mighty Dragons were playing!  He was an unbelievable gentleman, funny, athletic, SMART, an all-around great guy.  I recall that I originally thought his name was Carl Lee, and he corrected me, with his family lore that they had really wanted a new car when they learned that he was coming along, so they named him "Carr" instead!  Do you think he was putting me on? (At the time, I bought it completely!)   His early death was shocking.  As Emily said, he surely would have contributed mightily to the world.  Leila Kane (Dickey)

I knew Carr Lee from 7th to 9th grade. I remember him being a gentle, caring individual. We were in Band together
where he played 1st chair French Horn. Quite a brain if I recall. We played football together as well in 9th grade.
I’m sorry that he’s gone and it would have been a treat to write him now to tell him how much of a “good guy” he was.
